NET 12: Introduction

1. How did you first encounter, hear or read about it?

I can't really recall how I heard about the Internet, it just kinda ended up in the house. I think it was probably from my brother. For a long time after my parents divorce we couldn't afford a computer let alone pay for a monthly connection to the Internet.

2. When and how did you first ‘go online’ and what did you think of it?

When we eventually got a computer in 2002/03 (I think, can't really remember), connection to the Internet was pretty much instantaneous. I didn't really use it much since my brother was always on the computer playing online games and if he wasn't doing that he was spending hours responding to the forum he was apart of. I saw it as a great research tool, but at the time I mostly saw it as an excuse for my brother to hog the computer >.>

3. How do you use it nowadays?

I do virtually everything on the Internet nowadays (I have 3 computers that can access it now :O). I use it for work, studies and entertainment. I don't have any friends and I don't make them easily so I haven't gotten into the whole social networking side of the web. I use the web mostly for research, online gaming and doing Uni through and of course for browsing sites like lolcats. =^-^=

4. Do you think of it as different or part of your everyday life?

Definitely part of, there is just so much that's been moved to online that has to be taken care of, like paying bills, studies, keeping up with friends (if you have them). More and more is being done online and with the 'time poor' society that we live in its no wonder we're opting to do as much as we can via the convenience of the web.
